Focus On Black Crime
Black Criminals, Green Dollars
White On White Crime
If whites victimize one another with nearly the same frequency as other communities, why is there no talk of white on white crime? Anytime a Black person mentions unfair treatment by the American justice system, black on black crime will be brought up. It’s just a matter of when and how.
The myth of black on black crime gives the media a free pass to exploit negative stereotypes. The term makes Blacks seem much more prone to crime than other groups. It’s the reason behind countless op-eds in newspapers. Many TV shows examine crime in the Black community, while white crime is talked about in far less racialized terms, if at all. This has consequences. Those consequences defy the facts.
